The U.S.-Africa Chamber of Commerce and the Young African Professionals (YAP) Network are excited to announce their First Annual African Diaspora SME Pitch Workshop to be hosted on October 15, 2015 in Washington, D.C., as part of Global Diaspora Week.
The workshop will help you prepare more effectively toward speaking about your business to important stakeholders. The workshop will give you the insight, practice, and feedback you will need to present your pitch at an expo, business competition or in front of an investor. Even if you are not a small business owner, or are thinking of starting your own business in the future, you are welcome to attend, network and learn.

Increase your chances for success when pitching to investors;
Participate in a dynamic and informative training workshop led by experts, and driven by attendee participation;
Meet with other entrepreneurs and business owners to discuss ideas and explore opportunities;
Share experiences and lessons about lessons learned and best practices.
Workshop Format (6:00pm-9:00pm):
Part 1: Successful Pitches
Expert guidance will be given by 3 experts in the field, including insights, tips, and case studies on the do’s and don’ts of Pitching.
Part 2: Practice your Pitch
Participants will put Part 1 lessons-learned into practice, creating a 30-second pitch among peers in small breakout groups.
Small groups will elect the top pitch in their group to be presented in Part 3.
Part 3: Perform your Pitch
30-Second Pitch, by each small group elected representative.
Part 4: Pitch Review
Pitches will receive in-depth feedback and tips for improvement from expert facilitators.
